You might be a too hip for it. Your tastes far too refined. You’d rather hear some Rachmaninov, or <insert obscure hipster band/folk singer/whatever here>. Still, it has a catchy beat. A nice hook. Hell, the kid’s voice could pass for a cute 16 year old girl. An early on American Nelly Furtado or somesuch.

It’s catchy and it’s mindless. It’s pretty and simple and harmless. It appeals to the vast majority because it is these things. Why do “self-improvement” authors and “power of positive thinking” people do so well with their inane bullshit?

Because people don’t want the boat rocked. Read 90% of the updates on Facebook. Listen to people talk to each other. As Seen On TV products. Late night credit repair solutions. Attorney ads.

What does this tell us?

The average American is a cheesy motherfucker.
